I have an older vehicle (2001) that does not have an MP3 jack, like many (if not most) new cars have. I use this for my Sansa Fuze and my Slacker radio, without any problems. Although a bit most costly than generics or other brands, Belkin is a name I trust. He said it was the best yet. He told me the Colby worked very well, buth the XM worked even better, plus it was a little less in price. We also tried the FM transmitter and we got alot of static, plus it was alot more expensive. This is great for playing your MP3 player on your car radio. I simply had a bunch of Macy's store credit and gift cards with no better place to go than on some new cans. I figured they would be disappointing but passable and that's exactly what they are. Do they sound like junk? Not to me. I'm not an audiophiles, but I know sound reproduction, and to my ear, these sound like about your average $60 pair of lower-end Sonys or mid-level Skullcandys..not bad, but certainly not good either. The bass response is, sonically speaking, the best part of these phones. It's detailed and full without being overpowering, however it is a bit 'boomy' meaning you get the distorted pop on vocals beginning with the letters p and b, especially at higher volumes...and being that these puppies aren't very sensitive, you will find yourself listening to your music up pretty high. Aside from the bass, the rest of the sonic spectrum is very unspectacular on the Solos. I wouldn't exactly call it muddy, it's more just that the mids aren't detailed or crisp enough and there is not nearly enough musical separation. Look, let's just call it what it is, the Beats Concept is not based on great sound, it's based on making a fashion statement. The packaging is slick, they look fantastic, and they let everyone know you have $200-$400 to throw down on a pair of headphones. Sound-wise, they simply sound nowhere remotely close to what you would and should expect from a $200 set of phones. To be fair, I would probably give them 3 stars were they not so comically overpriced, as the build quality seems acceptable, the bass response downright enjoyable, and to be frank-the look is just downright smokin'. I'm now going on my 2nd pair and 3rd cable set. In about 3-4 months you'll notice that one of your channels has lost all or most of its volume. Then when you continue to use it, you'll notice that the sound completely cuts out between steps as you're walking. Eventually, nothing brings the sound back and you pay $20 for a new cord. Disconnecting and then reconnecting the cable to the buds will not do anything. The problem is that the area where the jack transitions to the cord (the strain-releaf) is VERY WEAK and eventually the wire breaks inside. On my next cable (currently awaiting its arrival), I'll use some heat-shrink in that area to try and bolster it, but for $400, why am I engineering a fix? I also have a coworker whose first pair broke where the bud meets the shapeable wire that goes over your ears. I'm sure this will eventually happen to me and then I'll no longer buy anything from this company. My $100 Shures Shure E2c Sound Isolating Earphones are just about as good, isolate about the same and I can buy 4 of them for the cost of one of these. Also- if you want a GOOD seal, you need to get the replacement (or 3rd party) foam tips. After it ended, they let us go into a room and look at the products, as always. I waited there for about an hour, just to get to hold this product for a couple minutes.. Having owned the iPod Touch 4th Generation in both Black and White, since their release 2 years ago, I immediately noticed a significant difference in the weight of the iPod. It is UNBELIEVABLY light. If you thought the 4th gen. was thin, wait till you get your hands on this. I was fortunate to get to see all of the colors available, I wasn't to sure how I felt about colors, but these are amazing. The colors are incredibly vibrant and bring a new twist to the already fantastic iPod. The 4-inch display is beautiful, I was glad to see that Apple included it on the iPod. I was able to use the iPod for about 5 minutes before going to check out the iPhone 5. Let me just say, what I saw from that iPod in just 5 minutes blew me away. I also noticed that due to the A5 chip now used in the iPod, that it was significantly faster. I have pre-ordered the iPod Touch 5th Generation 32gb in Red. If you are willing to spend $299+ this iPod is DEFINATELY worth it. If you are not sure about it, wait till October, go to the Apple store, and just play around with the iPod. I guarantee you will be amazed by it's performance. I wanted a dock that would work with my iPod touch 2G, have superb sound quality, and preferably charge my iPod while docked. Well I have to say that I got all i wanted and then some with this unit. I read some reviews online written by "audiophiles" and supposed "sound experts" bashing Bose for selling overpriced and underpowered equipment. These people just don't get it. I won't go on to bore you in detail about the ridiculous things that were said but I will mention that these people are comparing the SoundDock to a home stereo setup that entails having a receiver with two separate wired speakers. Is this a fair comparison? I beg to differ. To summarize this product it's a compact unit you can have in virtually any room in the house minus a bathroom (for safety purposes) and its sound can be described as warm and beautiful with deep enough bass to make your sound come alive but not wake the neighbors. Clear, never distorted at any volume. You get what you pay for. I have a nearly one hour commute to and from work each day and the player lasts through both trips on one battery charge. I love the color too. After it ended, they let us go into a room and look at the products, as always. I waited there for about an hour, just to get to hold this product for a couple minutes.. Having owned the iPod Touch 4th Generation in both Black and White, since their release 2 years ago, I immediately noticed a significant difference in the weight of the iPod. It is UNBELIEVABLY light. If you thought the 4th gen. was thin, wait till you get your hands on this. I was fortunate to get to see all of the colors available, I wasn't to sure how I felt about colors, but these are amazing. The colors are incredibly vibrant and bring a new twist to the already fantastic iPod. The 4-inch display is beautiful, I was glad to see that Apple included it on the iPod. I was able to use the iPod for about 5 minutes before going to check out the iPhone 5. Let me just say, what I saw from that iPod in just 5 minutes blew me away. I also noticed that due to the A5 chip now used in the iPod, that it was significantly faster. I have pre-ordered the iPod Touch 5th Generation 32gb in Red. If you are willing to spend $299+ this iPod is DEFINATELY worth it. If you are not sure about it, wait till October, go to the Apple store, and just play around with the iPod. I guarantee you will be amazed by it's performance.
